Dear, Next years senior class.

I know you are all dreading the senior venture for next year and you should because it sucks. First off Ill tell you what you shouldn't do because there is a lot. First don't put it off till the end of the year trust me it bites you in the butt. Don't set to tough of goals for each month because then when you don't reach all your goals for the month your not overly disappointed. Also don't pick a project that you know nothing about. This year I picked a project that I knew nothing about and it turned out that I hated it so it made it tough for me to want to work on it. Don't put off meeting with your mentor either. I did this and it sucked. When I finally met with her for the required amount of times I found out that she was the biggest highlight in my project. She was awesome and fun to be around. Don't ignore you advisors. They have been through so many years of this that they know what they are talking about even if you think that they are annoying because I thought that to.

Know I will tell you what you should do. First meet with your mentor right away. They are amazing and so helpful for the senior venture. You also want to pick someone that you know and like that has some experience in the project you are doing. I didn't know my mentor at first but she turned out to be fantastic. Another thing is work on your prioject right away and get as much done as you can therefore you don't have to worry about it later. If you work hard to start with and get past the minimum requirement for hours then its a relief. Another thing is logging. Log everytime you do something. This was another this that haunted me. I only logged 21 hours so that is all I could count but I probably worked on it about 45 hours. Thats a big difference. Another thing you want to do is make a good presentation with a bunch of information. This way you don't have to worry about the time limit. I am a natural speaker so I had no problem with the presentation and I went for about 20 minutes. For your research paper do it all right away as soon as it is assigned. I got mine finished in the first 2 days so I was so not stressed like the rest of my class. Plus if you get it done right away then you have a bunch of time to make the corrections that Mrs. Schnieder will find. Don't try and hide the corrections. SHE WILL FIND THEM!!!!!

Senior year is so stressful trust me so you really want to be organized and prioritize your stuff. There is so much college stuff and scholarships to fill out that you get overwhelmed and don't want to work on your senior venture but you have to. Make some tie fore free days to do what ever you want but also make some days to strictly work on senior venture. I found out that the weekends unfortunatly are the best time to work on it. Normally there isn't school events on the weekend so you could have a full day to work on it.

finishing up

Finally we are giving our presentations. Yesterday we had our practice day and I did great I think. I am not to worried about thursday but this cold is really ticking me off. It makes it hard to breath and talk.

Finishing the Board

Today I remembered my pictures so I can add them to my board. Once I put that on I am basically finished except one mroe thing I think. Im happy to finally be about done completly.

Finishing Up

I have to do a couple more things before presentation day. One is that I need to add the pictures of everyone to my board. The second is finishing up the powerpoint which is already started so it shouldn't take to much longer.

Keep Blogging?

I don't see why I have to keep blogging now that I printed them off for my portfolio but here goes. This weekend I printed off all of the finished pictures onto that waxy picture paper. They came out good and I am happy with then.

Presentation Day

I found out that I know have a track meet on the presentation day for projects. I am not worried though cause I can just go in the morning and then leave for the meet.

Keeping up

Well I have less to write about now that the project is done but I still have to keep up on blogs so be expecting me to write a lot about my presentation.

Finally done

Since today was the deadline for projects I finally finished my project. I am really happy to be done. It also make me feel so close to being done for sure. I still have the presentation to do though so thats the down side.

Finishing Touches

Tonight after the track meet and play practice I have to put the finishing touches on my designed pictures. I also started my presentation but thats not part of the project so it doesn't have to be finished tonight. I will be happy tomorrow when I finally am done with this project. Since I don't like it, it made it so hard to work on it.

Another Work Day

I am planning to finish all of my pictures on Thursday. If not Thursday they will get done this weekend sometime. I also want to finish putting my powerpoint together. That shouldn't take to long being that its already started.

Crossing Off

I went into english happy today that I was able to cross more off of my goal list. After crossing off though I didn't feel as well seeing that I still have work to do. Really wishing that this was just done already.

Finishing pictures

As of right now I have 7 pictures finished and 3 pictures to go along with making the presentation but that won't take long. The people I have left are harder to do because I have no idead for them. I am worried that people will think they are bad but its really hard to do this trust me. Also I hope people judge the editing and not the person in the picture.

Worst Enemy

Really my worst enemy is myself for senior venture. I keep telling myself that I have time and because I don't like doing my project it makes it hard to work on it. Really wish I could change to something that I actually like. The biggest bonus of this senior venture was meeting my mentor. I really liked her and plus her work is so good.

Sports Theme

I found out that it was hard to pick what I think people like so for the backgrounds I am going with a sports theme. Everyone like a team or a person in one sport or another so it makes it easier on me to work on the pictures.

More Time

Well I got my privs taken away because of an incomplete. I now have more time to work on my pictures since I can't take privs anymore. The incomplete should not be there.

Stressing

I am kinda stressed out about how much time I have left to finish my pictures. I have a lot of stuff starting which makes me have less time to work on it. I am also worried that when I finish that people will think that they are bad.

Wish it was done

I still haven't worked anymore on my senior venture. I am upset with myself that I keep putting it off. I know that as soon as I get it done I will be so relieved and less stressed. This last weekend was busy with three scholarships that are coming due. I am tired of senior ventre stress.

This week

I have alot to do this week in my senior venture along with scholarships. I have to get this stuff done because the scholarship deadline is due on the 15 which is state b weekend so I need to get it done now. On senior venture I need to finish my pictures so I can start making my before and after presentation.

Update

I need to update my profolio and work on the a little more. At the beggining of the year I worked hard on it to get it really far done. I need to go in and add more stuff that I have done since then.

Pictures

I won't have any pictures of me working on my senior venture because it would just be me sitting on my computer. I don't need those pictures though because my whole senior venture is around pictures.

Letters

As of yesterday I have all three of my letters of recommendation for my scholarships. I am going to use these three recomendations in my portfolio for senior venture. So thats one more step done fore me.

Putting Off

Looks like I am putting off doing my senior venture again. I originally planned to hit it hard this week but a bunch of scholarship deadlines came up on me. Scholarships are just as annoying as senior venture.

Presentation

I have actually started thinking on my presentation that I am going to give. Right now I am just thinking about how awesome my mentore is. She was so helpful in teaching my the new program and showing me some good idead in designing.

Checkpoint

Today we had another senior project check point. I actually felt like I am catching up to where I should be so I didn't get grilled in todays session. My advisor had it right when he said that I put stuff off in the beginning and now am catching up to speed while my other classmate was at speed right away but is now coasting and putting stuff off. I need to just take one day and just go crazy on designing so I can finish. I said I want to be done designing in the beginning of March.

Procrastination

Haha I am being kind of lazy on my senior venture right now. I really need to just sit down one day and just go mad hard on it. I have 9 pictures to do and then I finish but I have done all of the hard parts of the pictures though so thats good.

Hard to blog

Its hard to blog every day when for example I haven't done anything new from yesterday to today.

Ideas

I really need to come up with some more ideas about what I wanna do to each picture. I am trying to put in things that the person likes but its tough to make some of it work with the picture.

The past weekend I did a lot for scholarship applications. I also worked on designing my pictures although I didnt get another finished yet I will keep working on it.

Need work

I need to start working on my pictures again and Friday is the day to do it. I will come to school on time and not take my privs. I need time to work on it so I have to give up some of my sleep time.

Solo working

From here on out I will work by on my pictures without meeting with my mentor. After I finish one I will email it to her and see if I should make any improvements. I might meet with my mentor again in the way distance when I start building my presentation.

Meeting with the Mentor

I have now met with my mentor 3 times and have 1 picture done. I have all of the rest of the pictures cut out so thats good. The cutting out takes the longest. This is the first time that I actually feel that I am not totally behind on my project. It feels pretty good until one of my teachers confronts me and tell me how behind I am with little time left.

Meeting for the firat time

Last Friday I met with my mentor for the first time. It went well she is nice and has really good tips for me to use. I will meet again this Thursday and Friday.

Hopeing for the Best

I hope that I don't say that I am going to get a lot done on these days off coming up and then not get any done. I said I would do all of this work over Christmas break and then I decided that I didn't want to do it. I really need to get this stuff done on my days off.

No work

U have taken a little break from working on my senior venture because I have been really busy. I will probably start to work on it again on my days off coming up when I go to meet with my mentor.

BUM DEAL

Well we have 3 day off from school coming up. I schedualed to meet with my mentor all three of those days. I am happy that I will have met with my mentor so much and have the minimum requirement done. I am mad because I like having days off to do whatever I want.

Mentor Times

Next week and the week after we have 3 days of school off. On all three of those days I have plans to meet with my mentor. This way I have my minimum done. I will probably meet again when I finish the project just to see if she thinks I could do something to make it better.

Moving

Alright I am stating to do well on my designs. I found out that people that wore black makes it easy to design. Sad to say not many wore all black. I haven't finished a picture yet but I have three of them started.

Finding a time to meet

It is near impossible to find a time to meet with my mentor. She gave me times that would work for her and they include times that I have school or practice. This is going to be tough meeting with her at least 3 times.

calling tonight

Tonight I have to call my mentor to set up a time to meet. I have to meet at least 3 times and still haven't gone once. We have a checkpoint tomorrow so I have to call tonight because Mr. Hornstra grills me when I get in there about how far behind I am.

Falling farther behind

I hate senior venture now. It isn't fun anymore and Ill probably just end up throwing something together to finish. I still haven't met with my mentor but I am going to call tomorrow night to set up a time to meet because I could really use some help at this point. I will also be talking to Mr. Schneider to see if he has any help for me on Gimp.
